Career Highlights

From cathedral to West End

Simon’s work spans the concert platform, the theatre pit, the recording studio and the cruise-ship stage. Whether directing a production, accompanying a choir or writing for a new project, the same care goes into every note.

As an organist, Simon has given recitals in several cathedrals, including Chester, Bradford, Wakefield and Blackburn, and has performed at events such as the investiture of the Archbishop of Wales. His work has also included live broadcasts for BBC radio and television.

Musical theatre has long been part of Simon’s professional life. He has worked as a pianist, keyboard player and musical director with regional theatre companies, Theatre in Education groups and school productions. His West End experience includes performing keyboards for The Phantom of the Opera at Her Majesty’s Theatre in London.

A residency at The Trafalgar Hotel in London provided regular performance opportunities, and further engagements with Carnival, P&O and Swan Hellenic cruise lines extended his work internationally.

Simon’s compositional output spans a wide range of styles and purposes, including children’s songs, a cantata, music for theatre, and arrangements for ensembles and artists such as Tango Passions and Gerard Kenny. His work has also included writing in pop, jazz, choral and orchestral genres, with publications by Sony BMG, Portsmouth Music Service, Westminster City Council and GMG Productions, and roles as a house writer for Choker Records and Oinkba Productions.
